Having a bit of a ‘mare trying to find a suitable place for the family Holiday this year.
Opening my search up to the Tyresmoke 'font of all knowledge' to see if anyone here has any recommendations.
What we are wanting is :
Somewhere for 2 adults and two Kids, 3 ¼ and 1 ¼ years old with as many of these as possible
A Sandy Beach within 5 Miles (Must Have)
Self Catering Accommodation (3 Bedrooms ideally), including washing Machine(Must Have)
Decent Takeaways and Restaurants (Kid friendly) locally (5 Miles)
Plenty of stuff to do for Small and Big Kids
Pool
Lastly, we think we are willing to tavel to : Southern UK, the Netherlands, Belgium or Northern France
Budget around 2.5K
We do not want Tat city…….Did Dawlish Warren last year(Nice place) in on of the ‘Parks’ and it was a Mistake….Just too tacky…. Rubbish Food and well…Yuk !
We are currently considering the likes of Centre Parcs so any comments on these specifically would ber very handy)
Any help gratefully received……

Pick an area in France, enter it into Google, or Jeeves, then look at some of the campsites.
They do mobile homes, and are quite good value.
The Vendee, (the area near Royan) is only 1 easy day's drive from Cherbourg, and has a micro-climate with excellent weather.
Try "Camping Bonne Anse Plage", one of the best in France, but there are others too.
You do need to be booking soon though.

We have been to a camp site called La Palombiere in the Dordogne, France near Sarlat. We have booked through Keycamp. We stay in a static Caravan, you can get them with three rooms. Depending on the time of year you go should come in at budget. The better ones have gas bbq, fridge freezer, microwave.
The drive down is about 10 hours from Calais and we have taken our kids since they were about 18 months and 3. The pool is fenced and there is a bar and reasonably priced reastaraunt at the site. The views from the restaraunt are stunning! There are two pools and water slides, although it's a little busy in the school hols, it's a lot quieter in June / July. Sarlat itself can be got to in 3 minutes on your own in an Impreza!
There are prehistoric parks, markets, aquariums, chateaux's (sp?) and all sorts within a 30 minute drive.
There is a manmade river beach about 20 minutes away, which is very shallow for the kids and not too crowded.

Been to a couple of Centre parcs in The NEtherlands and they were all Class Child friendly everything with lots to do for all ages. The villas are a bit better than the UK spec and the parks themselves are more established so the surroundings are much nicer than a few of the parks in the uK.
