wadda ya think i should do here:
i was a memeber of a certain gym for two years. each year i paid up front for a full year. in the second year i stopped going after a few months. i also moved house. i now have found out that they are persuing me for £175 as i didn't give them 3 months notice that i wasn't going to sign up for another year. i know that's what is in the contract terms but i think it's a bit unreasonable. also, i have paid for a whole year in which i only went about a dozen times. should i just ignore it and hope that they will go away, or will they go as far as to get a ccj? if they do, should i care? i really don't see why i should give them any more money for a service that i have not used.

most gyms do this
If it was in the T&C when signing up for it I don't think there's much you can do except they may be nice if you can prove you no longer live anywhere close

cheers steve. all the correspondence that had the gym logo i sent back marked 'not known at this address'. unfortunately i opened the one from the debt recovery people as it was in a plain envelope. i think i will write to them saying that i didn't receive the correspondence due to having moved, and that i spoke to someone and told them that i didn't want to renew, and that i had moved house. as that would have been about 6 months ago i don't see how they could prove it one way or another.
thanks for the tips.
