Look at the numbers along the edge. If you can read these border numbers , you are looking at the base side . If the number appear backwards , you are looking at the emulsion side.

lol,if mi new which the base was i would know what the other side was seems i was right,the film description is reversed

I am now into this stuff,and can quite happily scan away using Vuescan and setting the output at prescan is making life easier.I have taught myself using a print from Peak Imaging of a Neopan C41 neg,and ive scanned it and printed it myself to compare.
Using max res scan,2900,then max print dpi,2880,they are no discernable diffs res wise,i'm quite happy to put them in the album,however,i'm getting a green colour cast when printing.Is this because i'm using premium glossy paper which should be used for colour prints?
