Question

How do we get rid of/kill small slugs that have appeared in a newly laid lawn?

Any ideas/recommendations?

Agree with salt, just sprinkle some on the slug.

Thumbs up

Get a large bowl, jug or glass, dig a hole in a bed next to the lawn, and insert the bowl so the top is level with the ground. Pour in some lager (a third full perhaps), and leave overnight.

Provided that you resist the urge to drink the lager during the night in some alcohol-fuelled dream, there should be a fair few of the slimey-******* in there in the morning.

Leave until the slug-soup becomes too full, and repeat. Best method of all, and cheap too.

LOL

Just get some slug pellets. They are cheap and VERY effective.
Put them somewhere pets and kids can't reach them though.

Makes sure you put any slug pellets under soem old roof tiles etc.. otherwise birds may eat them and die. Then you'll have dead birds to clean up as well.

Another method it to place hollowed out pink grapefruit halves on the ground overnight (skin side up). Then, in the morning go out with an old pair of scissors, turn over the grapefruits and get cutting the slugs in half. Cheap, easy and good for the other wild life.
