Had Sky installed at the weekend and all I can say is - what a load of tosh!

There is sooo much tosh amongst what we actually want to watch, sureley people dont really want an entire channel dedicated to plane spotting, gay dating, text flirting or god ??

Also, for a "family" package, I was appauled at the ammount of soft **** that kids would easily be able see if they were to be channel hopping for any reason late at night (TV in their room etc.) There are two channels that seem to consist of relatively normal programs during the day then come late evening the screen is split in 4 with each portion showing a different girl sucking her own nipples to the demands of sad lads who text in. I realise that there must be a market for this kind of stuff but surely it shouldn't be included as part of the Sky Worl Family Package should it?

While I'm at it I'm going to have a go at their customer service too, they managed to set up 3 accounts for us following one application! It took 2 phone calls to get them to cancell the redundant pair of accounts, each time starting from square one, having to explain the situation over again. I've yet to see if I get billed 3 times after the first month.

The guy that did the installation was a complete w****r too.

[RANT MODE OFF]

I just wish there was a way we could pick only the channels we wanted without having the tosh.

There is, it's called Sky+ you don't even have to watch the adverts then!

If you are worried about your kids watching dodgy channels then activate the pin request for anything other than 'U' or 'PG' rated.

Goochie,

No offence, but if you dislike it and eberything about it so much why the f**k did you order it?

Seriously though, I think you can add your most watched channels to favourites or something - that way you only get to see what you want - never bothered myself as I just memorise the channel numbers of those I watch and type them in - sad I know!

Cool

Goochie, I fully agree, I had to get sky due to sh1te tv in Germany and we looked through the packs I only actually wnat about 10 channels that they offer but to do that I would need to get the mega 38pound a month pack with 10 gazillion channels of crap which I will never watch or even select.

When will sky realise that their entertainment packs are crap and most people want to mix and match differnt channels, maybe a customer suryey would be a good idea if your reading this SKY!!!

I don't have Sky, did order it once, but they failed to tirn up on the day in question so I told them were to stuff their dish.

However when reading the blurb it has always occurred to me that to get what you want you have to also get a lot of rubbish. Seems to me the simple solution is that you either get Sky and put up with all the crap or don't get. Seems no point getting it thn complaining.

Equally simple fact is that the kids shouldn't be up late watching it anyway. Also I thought that ifupstairs they couldn't channel surf if the box is downstairs! If they can remove the TVs from their bedrooms!

You have thirty days to cancel it.

But if you had a decent package you wouldn't want to because its worth if for the Football alone.

SKY+ ROCKS!

I'll tell you one thing, thank god it wasn't NTL or your experience would have been much worse (ex NTL analogue and digital customer) would never go back, Sky beats them hands down!

Yeah...we have just taken Sky+ and its wicked. So versatile and very very easy to use. We are in control at last. Beware if you are thinking of having it....order it online and pay just £1 for installation and not £50 by phone !

Question

Is Sky+ the beginning of the end of television advertising?

I bet a few media bigwigs are having a few restless nights...

If I go for the option of them running the existing box to another room can I still run a digi-sender from the 2nd box to a third one?

telboy, interesting question.

give it 2 or 3 years and every sky custumer will have sky +....why would anyone pay to advertise knowing that the adds will get jumped (which will be easy when the add jumper download is here)

someone at sky must be having a panic over this...interesting to see how it pans out. (last add i saw was months ago)

Arent some cable companies in the States advertisement free?

Could be totally wrong here, but isnt HBO one of them? They rely on subscription fees and not advertisers.

So running a advertisement free service might be an option to advert hopping.
