Which are the screens to go for at the moment in the 40-42" region.
Also where is a good place to get them from?
I have heard John Lewis price match and give a free 5yr warranty is this true?

If it were my money at the mo' I'd be looking at the Pioneer 434 with HDMI partnered with a similarly equiped DVD such as an 868. Other than that the front runners are the Panasonic 6's or the Hitachi 3000's.
Have a look through the posts on AVForums but don't expect too much help, they're a funny bunch. You'll probably be directed to the search facility.

Cheers,
From what I can see on the Net it looks like a Panasonic is the way to go.
It looks like the best way to go is to get a price from an online supplier than get John Lewis to price match it. You then get there free delivery and 5 yr warranty.
Do most shops carry stock of these or do you have to order them?
