Question

Pretty much a novice when it comes to the Ebay game so I'm not sure if I need to be concerned or not.

I bid successfully for a second hand replacement screen for the Firestorm. Sent a cheque to the guy which cleared last Friday. So far I've received nowt. Given that today is the third working day since the cheque cleared should I have expected to have received the goods by now, or am I just being paranoid.

What is a suitable period to expect to wait until I start chasing them, posting negative feedback etc? I'm just not sure of the Ebay 'protocol' really.

Cheers for any advise.

I assume you either have his email or phone number and have contacted him to ask? If not, I would now.....

I've waited like this before having paid by cheque. I emailed the bloke and asked him what was happening. I suspect it'll be 'in the post' so will arrive in due course.

If not then you can contact your bank and they can recover your cash for you.

They've had plenty of positive feedback, and they are a bike dealer. I phoned them a week ago to say the cheque was in the post, and the old boy I spoke to said this son was in charge of selling off the bits.

Guess it's time to give them another ring then.

I'd give it until Monday. Its christmas post time, and if the screen has been sent by parcel post it will take 4 days usually anyway. Plus if the cheque was in the post this time last week, there is no way the money was cleared into the other guys account by last Friday. They may have pulled it from your account but it won't have cleared until possibly yesterday.

Either way I wouldn't be panicing. But if you like, for piece of mind give the guy a call.

Bl00dy Hell UB give the guy a chance. Parcel force is 3-5 days delivery from posting, even if he posted it the day the cheque cleared you may not get it till Friday.

I'd defo wait at least two weeks, normally I send two mails also, and if no reply I send a further reply stating I will give negative feedback in 48 hours.

Bl00dy Hell UB give the guy a chance.

That's what I'm doing. As I said I'm not sure what the expected, reasonable time is to allow for an Ebay transaction to get completed. The last thing I want to do is put the blokes nose out of joint, hence my post.

If he's posted by Parcelforce he should be able to give you a tracking code which can be used on their website to tell you where the item is at present.

hold fire dont neg just yet some are fast at sending some are as slow as bloody snails if you neg them before you give them resonable time thay will neg you back my wife has done over 500 sales if you have any probs post it i will get her to give you some advice neging is the last resort ......

This is my wife now....Hi im tracey why dont you send an email and ask politely when they are sending your parcel....I have bought stuff and waited a week for it to arrive.

Best bet is email and ask politely as you dont want them to neg you for being rude.

A neg looks bad on feedback when it appears and you on have a few feedback on your account a lot of sellers wont sel to anyone with low feedback and a neg.

Get back to me if you have naymore problems and i will try to help.

Regards Chris n Tracey

Chris n Tracey

Thanks for the kind advice. I agree absolutely that there is no need to go on the war path and I'm sure now that there won't be a problem. I'll will give them a gentle phone call tomorrow if nothing turns up. But the replies here convince me that I'm just getting paranoid.

Also if you get no reply to your email try going onto one of his current auctions and go to Ask seller a question.

How many feedback does he have.

You can count on it. I would say 'I'll mail you offline' but (like me) you don't have a contact address.

O bought a GPS unit via Ebay. Won the auction on Saturday, paid via Switch on Monday, Tuesday morning it sounds as if someone is breaking down the front door, and discover its the postman carrying said GPS unit. Impressive or what!

Now all I need is the software to enable me to routeplan!
