Mr Blunkett struck his head on a metal stairwell after going on walkabout on Friday.
David Blunkett took part in the latest stage of Labour's consultation exercise with a black eye.
The home secretary, alongside Prime Minister Tony Blair in Leeds, said he had needed 10 stitches after he hit his head on a metal stairwell on Friday.
Despite the knock, Mr Blunkett said he was "fighting fit".
It later emerged that the minister had also been involved in a minor car accident as he was driven to the event, but nobody was injured in the incident.
Not one of his better days then
Chip.

Yes, and Cherie Blair "fell off a chair" the other week......
Rumours says she's actually got a severe back problem, and Tony is not fighting fit either....
Hmm....will they all use the NHS and wait 6 months to be seen?
