Anyone listening to radio 1 this morning at 08:00. New release was played, cover version, wasn't REM but singer sounded just like Michael Stipe. Anyone know title and artist??

It's Michael Andrew feat. Gary Jules with a track from the end of the movie Donnie Darko called "Mad World".
Simply stunning track IMHO.

I heard it for the first time, on Steve Wright this afternoon, I was never very keen on the original (Tears for Fears?), but this version works really well.

Donnie Darko is a great film. Mad World - the original and the best - is by Tears for Fears.
If you like that tune spend your money on the TFF album Pale Shelter. It has the original song and every other track on there is a gem. One of the best albums of the 80s IMHO.
