hi
was wondering if anyone has had a camera speeding ticket yet and tried the old "send it back without signing it" scenario and got away with it. ive read a few articles now about it but never heard any one actually trying it.
cheers

why dont you become scoobynets investigative reporter..
get a nip for speed ing and then do a scooby diary on your progress
then if it works we all know how to get away with it,,,, and your name will enter the scooby annals......

u might be able to dodge the offence of speeding by not signing, but u will get done for the offence "failing to provide" under section 172 of the road traffic act, which basically says u have to provide the name and details of who was driving at the time.

Idris Francis has an appeal coming before the High Court to establish if you need to sign.
The appeal isn't due for a while yet, no specific date has been set but probably Feb/March, and so most people who are not signing are asking for their cases to be put back until the results of Idris' case is known.
If Idris is successful then you will not be done for failing to sign as the High Court sets a precedent.
This may force the police to admit the NIPs to court under PACE and this raises a huge problem for them, for example under PACE it must be a voluntary confession "You do not have to say anything..." and clearly no one fills in the NIP willingly. Also you must be cautioned under PACE and they must establish that you understand the caution. So, a policeman would have to come around your house before you fill in the form!! This will throw them into utter confusion.
You must, however, consider that Idris may lose or they may try to process your NIP before his appeal. However, the unsigned route has plenty of steam left in it yet.

well Mart ive done the first bit lol.
somebody else told me if you send o cheque to pay for the fine but make it out for £61 as apposed to the £60 it should be they will send you a cheque back for the extra pound and until you pay the cheque into youre account and in effect accept the money they arent allowed to put the points on your license. So one burnt cheque later and you dont get no points.

Just pay it ....... If however, for some reason you want to delay paying, ask them to send you photo evidence! Which they have to, and this takes a while!
Mike did it, got the photo and then heard nothing for months! Unitl 2 days, before the 6 months was up! By that I mean, the dudes who are fining you have to have it completed within 6 months of the date on the ticket thing! After that they can't do anything!!!
Not sure wether I've explained that properly, but it was the basic jist, we went to see a solicitor about it, worried about points etc, and he told us!!!

The Gypsies round our way don't have their vehicles registered - they get away with no tax, no MOT, no insurance and NEVER seem to get done!
The only way is a mass no-pay revolt, with the mass paying for the costs and fines of those who are selected to be penalised as a lesson to the rest, but that will NEVER happen
