I more amused by the spammers tactics to get past anti-spam software by mispelling the subject. It's like a cross between l33+ and txt speak and you can hardly understand what it is your supposed to be buying.
Edited because I'm crap at l33+. w00t.

Well, the *****-enlargement spams are beginning to die down, and now I'm starting to see a lot of "steal their passwords" and "read their mail" spams - great, now I can log into someone else's account and read their spam...

Thing I love is how you get so many spams for the same thing, I mean just how many people are installing hidden web cams in their sisters dorm ?
I have a clara net account that is bulk spammed. Myself and other clara users all get about 20 spam emails a day.
I wonder what the percentage ratio is for spamming / replies that lead to businness ?

I saw something the other day that I did actually consider for a while!!!!!
You've probably heard about it before but if not:
You get six names/addresses sent to you and all you do is post 50p to all the names and then delete the 1st name, shunt the other five up a place and put your name/address on the bottom and then send the email to as many people as you can.
Apparently you just have to sit and wait for the cash to come rolling in!
I didn't take up the offer but in theory I guess it would work?
Opinions please - or am I just really really gullible

It's called a 'pyramid scam', and although it sounds like a reasonable idea in theory, in practise a little mathematical analysis shows why it's overwhelmingly likely to just lose you money and annoy people.
Suppose for a moment that 10% of the people who receive such an email actually respond. Suppose also that the people on the very first list each send the email to 100 people. They end up on 10 lists and make some money. Those lists now contain the names of 14 people - the ten who are joining the scam, plus the five that were originally on it, less the poor chap who drops off the bottom of the list.
Now let each of those 10 lists be propagated to 100 people, so now 1100 people have been spammed. Total number of names on the lists is now 113, of which only 3 have now received more than they put in.
Repeat again. Now 11100 people have been spammed and 12 have made money. That's about 0.1%. This assumes that the response rate is much higher than is actually likely, and that those 11000 people are 11000 different people. Statistically it's likely that some will now have received the same spam more than once. Obviously nobody will reply more than once. The response rate falls even further.
Repeat the cycle once more and over 100,000 people have been spammed. Only 100 or so will make more than they put in. The first few names on the list might have made a real profit, which is why these scams exist. You, on the other hand, have no chance of being near the top of the pyramid - you're just one of the hapless 99,900 poor souls who have been spammed and can never make anything. There just aren't that many people on the Internet.
