Hi all

Assuming I was selling as car, as I am and the fella wants to buy it.

We both bank with lloyds. We sit at a web browser and he logs into his account and shows me he has the money cleared, he then transfers it online. I then log into my account and its there.

Is this safe?? Both current accounts, not business.

thanks

Andy

Being a pessimistic & cynical sod, I'd ring Lloyds to confirm it was OK, or better still both of you visit a branch.

Hello

Yes. But it's not "instant". It takes about 3 days to clear.

Hello

Really? Okay. It's just NatWest then.

Even if I transfer between the SAME bank (not my account) it takes a few days to reach the other account.

Exclamation

Careful Hobo - I have transfered 30k from Barclays to Woolwich in the past, spent it next day and got hit with overdraft charges. BTW - Barclays are Woolwich, so check it out to be on the safe side

(On the flip side - I lodged 14k in cash at a Woolwich branch. They told me I could take it from the cash machine as soon as they printed the lodgement receipt)
