Does anyone on here either work for SCC (Specialist Computer Centre) or know of them (good / bad)
We are going to be outsourced to this company by February so any info would be useful
Cheers

Yes I have heard of SCC, they recently bought out another computer services co. called Compel Plc.
They have a bad reputation for under quoting for contracts and then once securing the contract doing a really bad job.
I work for Computacenter and often we have lost contracts to SCC, when I call up the site a few months later to speak to old friends they often slate the service they are getting.
SCC is a huge company, they are only as good as the engineers that will be working onsite.

They have a two storey office in birchwood. A lot of young chicks work there.
It never ceases to amase me when i see the cars they drive there. M3's Quattro s4's high specced Mercs, S2000's, celicas, even an old dear has new WRX.
Makes you wonder how much they are on!
Oh and they have just done a major office refurb about 6mths ago.
Our company buys all our IT equipment from them coz they are the cheapest by far. The aftersales prolly isn't important to us as we have our own IT department

SCC attempted to get our desktop support contract at Centrica, however after seeing their proposal and costs it was deemed that the just wanted the contract and deliberately undercut Compaq. Watch out mate - I've heard they get rid of staff quick time.
At the end of the day Centrica kept it inhouse.

should have added to my list of hated companies:
those with a policy of deliberately underquoting and then arguing about it later. will the clients *never* learn?
all it does is totally **** up the proper functioning of the market cos everyone is going around with unrealistic prices in their heads.

At the moment we're assured by the union that all our terms and conditions will be transferred with us except the pension, as pensions are not yet covered by TUPE regulations.
This is a sore point as the company we work for have a 15% non-contributory pension scheme so as you can imagine people are a bit gutted.
The union has assured us they will be fighting to try and get some sort of comparable pension deal with SCC.

Me and Liddo are off to London for work this weekend but if you could mail me as per my profile we would definately appreciate it. We are trying to find out as much information as possible about this company as the general opinion seems to be one of caution (only wish we had a choice about this transfer)
Most of the guys we know who work for SCC are all looking for other jobs!!!!
Oh well I can always take the scoob out for a spin to cheer myself up!!
Cheers guys
