most 17 year olds shouldn't be on the roads at *any* speed
you wont like it if i get a blowered V8 into my 120mph+ GT6 then!

My dad is 52, and he's never below 90mph in the scooby. Dont blame him, hes an excellent driver. He can judge and spot things well before me. He's been driving since 17 and is capable of handling most cars he's put into.
I wouldnt dare do that on any road (apart from autobahn) because points on license is not required (!), and my experience of fast speeds is 0.

no wonder they speed.

poor guy - what is a GT6 in any case?

I haven't really got anything against 17 year olds, it's just that road sense tends to come *after* experience. i get scared in a car driven by someone with one year's experience who suddenly think they can do it all, but are missing the most basic danger signs. mind you, could be a woman with 20 years experience...

I heard it was 45 to 54, in full time employment, two or more cars in the family, living in the West Country.

The last one lets me out then, cos I don't live there any more

You have to admit though more 17 year olds have to be a lot more careful now with such huge insurance and losing their licence if they get 6 points in two years.

40-45 year olds have faster cars on average, compared to 17 year olds.
Probably a higher percentage of business drivers in that group, therefore more on the road at any one time.

Not that surprising i guess.

Sounds perfectly correct to me, certainly for this area.

Wink

At that age you need to save every second you can get.

Cool

Well a couple more years before I get into that age category I guess

TBH I have slowed down a heck of a lot in the last 5 years, quite happy to pootle down the m'way @ 60mph. Change of location, lifestyle awareness (no need to rush everywhere - can't be bothered) and having a sprog has done it for me.

Now the AA is going to tell me that I'm going to drive faster when I'm over 40? LOL

Doubt it

but a 45 y.o. is less likely to crash. let's face it - most 17 year olds shouldn't be on the roads at *any* speed.

IMO, people of all ages crash cars, and more often than not when I for example get tailgated on the motorway it's from someone in a sales-rep car or the busy dad in the VW Sharan...

Fair enough, but other research shows that the mistakes made by 17 year olds are more often than not through inexperience, not necessarily speeding or boy racer types (although I don't deny they are the cause in some cases).

After all you have to start some time and you will always start totally inexperienced.

2 flashes 0.7 seconds apart, followed by a letter in less than 14 days saying something along the lines of "Your pictures are ready, please send £60 and your driving licence" if the AA are to be believed!

They used to be known as the poor mans E Type.
Its basically a Spitfire with a 2L straight six engine and a fast back hard top to help strengthen the chassis.
I always wanted one in my yoof. Had 4 Spitfires and a Vitesse, nearly got there a couple of times.
