Just got pulled not 20 mins ago for my plates, 'The lettering is too small!'
You'd think they have better things to do, whats more the wpc in the car was obviously just learning the ropes!

What, like looking for people breaking the law ?
That would be you then.........
Sorry, but nobody makes you do it, so don't whine when you get pulled for it.

FWIW I was pulled years ago for a standard plate with one digit 1.2cms out, so I'm not surprised either.
Get standard plates and they have no excuse to stop you and waste your time in future.

We all know the risks but its a chance u take. Mine are correct size but slight mis-spaced but if i get pulled i cant exactly argue about it.
I did get pulled over a few months back, i swear the way the copper waved me in, you'd think id just run over someone. Talk about the evil eye

My front plate is to small i know i risk the chance of being stopped but its my choice. I pay my taxes might as well get my monies worth giving them some more work to do. Before anyone says dont care about the fine either

Is it illegal to have a slightly shorter plate ( length wise only ) but the letters and spacing normal size ?
Have an A2 ??? Plate and used to have a short plate front and back on, (don't laugh), my Metro Gta 16v .. Looked really good.

As long as the font, spacing and borders are correct then yes, you can have a cut down plate.
I've just done this on mine, only got five characters on the reg, so I had the front one cut down to the absolute legal minimum. Rear is still standard size because it would look silly otherwise.

And as for learning the ropes... I assume everyone else on here went into a new job and knew exactly how to do it.
