When i need a safe place in central london i use bloomsbury square underground car park...certainly cheaper than a meter..(not that they are active on sundays) and very very secure.
Bout 10 ish maybe 15 mins walk from picadilly circus (just off tottenham court road)
Its a lot cheaper than most of the other carparks round there.
People certainly wouldnt look twice at a scoob in there compared to some of the motors in there
edit- agree with luke- be v v careful even on sundays- some residents bays are 24/7 (in the west end they certainly are), and some lines are restricted even on sundays..

No c charge over the weekend or public holidays.
You can park on single yellows as you can anywhere in the UK.
You'd be better off parking out of the centre and tubing in.

At one time i used to leave my car on the street in Islington and get the tube in.
I went to London today......6 hours in Selfridges car park...£18.It is as central as you can get though. The only thing is you have to leave your keys in your car if they have to move it.
Meters on the street are £1 for 15 mins..ie £4/hour.
NCP about the same price as meters.
As for traffic, weekends are a lot quieter than weekdays.

I always park at the Large Church at CockFosters and get the nearby tube to the Centre of London, it's got me into London no trouble for years. And being parked in the church, you dont get clamped or fined!
Hope it helps.

Thanks for the replies, in the end it dropped it off with 5 mins walk from madame toussards by regents park - loads of parking places off the main streets.
There were so many very expensive cars about, I don't think anyone would bat an eyelid at a scooby
For those of you than live or work in the capital (and use your car) - you either need a medal or certifying. How anyone puts up with the traffic is beyond me.
Glad to get back to Wales where traffic actually moves and people (well most) are courteous to you.

I know what you're saying!
I was going to spend about £25k on a motor but changed my mind after living here for 9 months.
A V6 Mondeo for a grand and the tube are quite enough.
It's like driving in Italy
