Question

Spends 18 years in clink for killing a man.... (not for killing PC Blakelock, as he didn't do that... so they gave him £500,000 to say sorry) a Boxer the year before he 'killed'.

oh.. forgot to say.. he was in an open prison!

Who KILLED PC Blakelock then????

If hanging were brought back.......?????

just my own thoughts btw

If hanging were brought back a man (innocent of that crime) would have been hanged.

If hanging were brought back, Silcott a man convicted of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment would not be being released next month.

Just what will he like many others before him do next.

He's still a disgusting murderer.

Black, white, brown, yellow or whatever he still took (at least) one life and should never see freedom again, let alone get money.

So, if he'd been hanged for the murder of the BOXER, my guess is PC Blakelock would still be alive.

Wasn't he a free man when he didn't kill the PC - had not been caught for the 1st (only(ish)) murder?

So murderers should never be released from prison?

So we should convict people of murder just because we can't think of anyone else who might have done it?

Say a 15 year old girl gets raped by her father, then murders him in his sleep. She admits everything. You'd hang her too?

No they should not be released. He was convicted by a jury on the evidence provided.

So what is your answer to the problem then?

After 20 years of do-gooders and no reduction in murders, muggings, paedophiles, rapes, shootings, knifings, burglary etc. How about now trying the hard line to see if that works. I am sure we would see a dramatic reduction in serious crime.

But I dont suppose we could treat these as they should be these days as we'd have the human rights mob, nacro etc lobbying on their behalf.

I have been in prison and know what these ppl are like.

Death penalty has never been a deterrent to murder. Murders are still committed all the time in countries were the death penalty is still levied.

It can stop overcrowding in jails though, and saves costs in supporting people over their lifespan in prison.

Brickboy - Rubbish - you are just thinking of USA. If you look at countries like Saudi Arabia, Iran, Singapore etc you will find that their severe laws are a real deterrent.

Yeah, in Malaysia illegal immigrants get flogged. That might put a few Albanians off sneaking in on a truck...

No.. what i'm saying is that Winston was acused to the MURDER of PC Blakelock.. hacked to death!! then he was convicted of the murder of someone else as well.. which was a year before PC Blakelocks murber!

Silcott was then aquited of the PC Blavcklock murber due to a tecnicality.
which in my eyes means that the police didn't have enough eveidence on him to make the case water tight for the coviction!
So they then gave him £500k as compensation!!!! ?????????
BUT as he was already in prison for another murber.. he still did time!

I ask my self.... have the police looked into who did kill PC Blacklock? and found the murderer?
Or Did they knew who did it anyway.. and as he was in prison anyway!! there was no need to waste time 'trying' to look for someone else!

do you follow me????

If it is not a deterrent, why are there so many murders now that most of them do not get a mention, while in the days of the death penalty, a murder was rare enough to be front page news?
