I'd have thought educashun would have been a big one for you UB or maybe you're at a different conference.

Thumbs up

Couple of great speeches by both

Tim Collins - Shadow Transport Secretary.

Dr Liam Fox - on the state of the Health service.

There is a lot of good stuff in there echoing many of the issues and opinions regularily aired on here, especially about roads and traffic policing policies.

To say they are not a credable alternative to Blair's lot is to admit that you don't really know what they stand for.

Seems like they know exactly what issues people are pi$$ed off about to me.

Looking forward to the rest of the week now.

ub - you're serious? The unelected preaching to the unelectable is hardly the stuff of political change. As for the laughable "er, we'll boost pensions", it's clearly showing the average age of the assumed Conservative voter.

And was this the same Dr Liam Fox who was stating that people would be able to get 60% of their private hospital bills paid by the government. Who was it who said: "the NHS, safe in our hands."

Could these be the same Tories who are now seeking to break the NHS up by getting us to pay 40% of our hospital fees? Clearly this is the way they'll fund the supposed tax cuts (and we saw what happened to public services under the cuts inflicted by 18 years of Tory rule).

Remember this: anyone can promise, only the real deal can deliver. And for all their (many) faults, you've more chance of a better level of public services under the current government than with anything led by IDS. (IDS, of course, stands for I Dont give a ****, because he knows he'll never have to make good on his promises.)

Surely after 6 years of Blair and his lot really fookin up the country it must be New Labour that should be unelectable.

camk - I posted in a hurry. I can't edit titles so yer stuck with it I'm afraid.

289 - the NHS is failing dismally under Blair and Co. All the extra money is spent on more middle managers. Surely it's time to start thinking a bit more radically on health.

Chip - couldn't agree more.

I think when people start to add up the Tory policies (if they can be arsed to listen) they might realise that they are not as unelectable as the likes of some on here like to make out.

i think we will end up paying for NHS treatment whoever's in government. as medical science goes on, more and more treatments are available, with more people living longer and therefore requiring more medical attention. i don't think any economy will be able to pay for this purely through taxation. I would rather pay a bit and have a good service than use the free third world stylee service we have at the moment.

Just think though. Throughout the summer John Prescott was supposedly running the country. FFS the man is just a total ****.

if the conservatives could muster up some half baked ****wit with a smarmy smile like blair they would win the next election with a large majority.

having a bloke in charge with a persona of a cardboard cut out aint going to get them anywhere.

Leader of the Tories??

That'll be:-

Mr

I diotic
D ozy
S od

then

I don't know, some muppetts on here will beleive ANYTHING!!

"We will CUT taxes AND give much better benefits" and the money will come from the money tree in my garden, if the gnomes haven't robbed me!!! ha ha ha ha !!!

"We will let you go private for your health needs AND we will ONLY charge you 40% to do so" WTF?????????? I pay 100% for NHS treatment NOW the Tories want me to contribute %40 MORE to go to one of their cronies Private Health Clinics!! GREAT IDEA!!!

The Tory party conference?? Tell you what - its a bigger laugh than The Simpsons Only HOMER has more chance of getting elected!!! ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Isn't it painful watching a bunch of no-hopers try and muster themselves ............... its MORE embarrassing than Labour in the 80's - as the Tories have NO direction ANYWHERE at all!!

Pathetic, should be a larf though!!
