Apologies if this has been done before.
Spray the seats and carpets with fabric freshener. It dries quickly and works straight away. It doesn't last as long as an air
freshener but at least you don't have the thing flapping about your ears or damaging any plastic bits it brushes up against.

Quick money saving tip. Don't buy that expensive Fabrise (sp?) stuff, just fill any squirty bottle with 15% fabric conditioner the rest water. Exactly the same IMHO.
