Hello

Reading the thread about Argos players, can someone confirm that some DVD players will play DivX films?

If so, which ones?

Thanks,

Steve.

or, if you already have a PC, you can get a video card with TV out and connect it to your TV (or use a wireless video sender if its in a different room)

I use a chipped Xbox and its great for this sort of stuff, esp. with the remote control.

<quote>{HA 441} LiteOn Multi-format DVD/MP3/WMA/DIVX/VCD/CDR/DVDR & RW/CD Player

Technology sometimes makes things that used to be complicated into something very simple. LiteON PhoMaster LVD-2001 is a classic example.
The LiteON PhoMaster LVD-2001 looks like your commonplace DVD player, but it has the uncanny ability to play DivX and Xvid movies. Until recently, you couldn't watch DivX movies and videos without the help of a PC to decode the content for you, but with the PhoMaster LVD-2001 at your side you can do just that.

No more decoding! Just download your Divx burn to disc and play.

Several Divx on one disc? No problem.

The player can even be made region and code free via the handset.

We opened up the case to examine what made the LiteON PhoMaster LVD-2001 so different from other DVD players. What we found inside was a typical DVD-ROM drive, which was connected to a PCB containing the real deal - the REALmagic EM8500 encoder chip. This chip is the heart and soul of the player and it makes the PhoMaster LVD-2001 tick. The EM8500 DVD decoder offers the unique features needed for next-generation progressive DVD players. Some of the player's advanced capabilities include playback of DivX video, WMA, MP3 and MPEG-4 (MP4) files. To date, this chip is by far the most powerful we've seen in this arena. To round things off, it has all the digital audio inputs and outputs that you'll require.

As well as everything else described above, the player also boasts progressive scan, component video Output, and NTSC/PAL TV System Compatibility, and of course full remote control.

Dimensions: Width: 420mm, Height: 58mm, Depth: 270mm

We think that this is by far the most powerful DVD player on the market today and it has huge geek appeal for DivX fans. If you download video from the web, you want one of these!

This unit also (with the PCMCIA cards supplied for adapting your various media) will read all your digital camera's jpgs and display them for you on screen.

By visiting the LiteOn website you are able to download the latest firmware revision that also allows you to view amongst other things DIVX 3.11 as well, be warned, this process can take up to ten minutes.

Shipping cost will be calculated and displayed by the website before you finalise your order.
