- Get your PA to drag you out for a phone call 10 mins in.

Just go, and if it was irrelevant to you let them know at the close.

I did just this on Monday, 20mins meeting that solved none of my teams issues. At the end of it, I told the "cream of my company's think tank" that they had avoided my teams issues and that the 20 mins of my time was wasted. As a cost saving exercise I would now be skipping the Monday problems and countermeasures meeting.

Tell them your coming then don't show.
Been doing it for months at a finance meeting I'm supposed to attend.
Funny thing is because I accept the e mail invite, my name appears on the minutes as an attendee, which keeps my boss happy and gives me a couple of hours to go car tinkering
