Question

My girlfriend is looking to get one for her dad. Its the little ones which you can stand on as normal, or stick a little seat on. The engines are only something 1-2bhp.

I've never been interested before and wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction.

It'll be used on probably quite bumpy roads (country road/forestry road for example), so I reckon it'll need to have have good wide tyres capable of some (semi) rough stuff.

Have approx £400 to spend, she reckons.

Any pointers of good un's or bad un's appreciated.

Ideally go for a genuine goped.

The Bigfoot sounds about right. I've had three now and they're ace. You'd have to buy the seat separately.

Just sold my super bigfoot as didn't think I'd use it over the winter.

New they're about £700 but the build quality is excellent- much better that most of the jap and chinese ones. You can usually find very lightly used examples on ebay, but don't pay more than about £350.

try Petrol Scooters, give them a call and speak to Dave.

Alternatively I have a good 43cc chain driven scooter with full suspension for sale. I bough it for the wife but she's only used it twice. Retailed at £600, but I got a good deal so would take £350. no seat though.

Hope this helps- mail me if you have any questions.

I prefer my beer scooter to a petrol scooter. Drives me home all by itself.
