following on from the Quad scam,
Sick as a chip, It seemed a steal aswell.
Basically I won the item for the right money, prior to bidding I mailed the seller to tell them that as they have no feedback I will be collecting the goods for cash If I were to win. I won the item before he responds.
I win the item and mail him again, asking him to contact me Regarding collection. He writes back to me explaining that collection is a no-no as he away training people to do websites or something, and the goods are boxed and ready to go with his transport/couriers.Incidentally, he signs the e-mail ben.
Ok, fair enough , so I write back and ask if we can do a COD, or maybe I could collect from his carriers etc. I still have had no responce.
In the meantime I have checked out his contact details from ebay - there is a name and No listed, however the name is Brian ( not ben ) and when I rang the No a woman answered and she did not know either a brian or ben. :
This has all happened this afternoon, as I said the guy has no feedback, he only registered last Monday ( 3 day auction ). Generally it all smells a bit and theres no way I will send a cheque etc, Its onlt £211, but I'm not chanching it.
How londg do you think i should give it before reprting him? he was quick enough to reply to me when I first contacted telling him I had won and I wanted to collect, but since offering alternatives ( in favour of my security ) he has been rather quiet.
as for the value of the goods it is some cordless power tools that usually sell for 500 ish quid, similar to the quad this is below half price. The start price was also low and there was no reserve.
Is it worth digging into the profiles of the last miute bidders to see if there is a connection?
apologies for going on a bit
Any advice?
cheers,
mike.
forgot to ask - how do you report ebay fraud ?

Ebay is like that chain of shops ....whats it called???
you take your stolen stuff in they give you a few quid for it and then try to sell it for a fortune....
Most towns have one..
"Cash converters" thats the buggers..
Ebay is massive and must be difficult to control (Like scoobynet!!)
but there is not a single click link to report any problems of fraud etc.
To many horror stories going around the world about scamming some of them for $30.00 but hundreds at a time...

the nearest I could find to reporting fraud is :
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/basics/select-RS.html, it does all seem a bit long winded.

Just don't pay - simple.
If he's genuine he'll get back to you.
The worst that can happen is he'll leave you negative feedback. Just do the same to him.

Dont pay up front, tell him he either accepts COD or you collect.
If he does not like that, then let it go.
As said earlier, you dont lose any money, he may give u some negative feedback (which u can reply to AND have the last word!).
You can then also leave negative feedback on his account.

Dont pay, plus report them and send negative feedback, put as much info into that.
If they are genuine they may respond to the feedback; if deffo dodgy he wont. but it lets other people know.

mj , it's a waste of space and time trying to complain to ebay , they cannot enforce anything , all they do is ban the persons that have done wrong. f money has changed hands , in this case no , they can't do squat !!
