The animal kingdom's version of a scooby.
150psi pressure in the jaw.
0-30 in 3 secs
weighs about 100lbs
can kill in seconds
devoured a (dead) rabbit,(bones, fur and all) in less time than it would take me to eat a fillet steak
Beautiful annimals with a very bad press.

That's a step up from a collie, eh?
Where did you get that one from? Do you work with them or summat? I notice it has quite a meaty chain there...
It does have a certain beauty though. I know exactly what you mean. Looks so powerful...

I went to a park of the A9 near Dalwinnie that had some. It was feeding time and they were tossing them dear heads. Supposedly they eat everything apart from the teeth.
Great to see and learn about the pecking order etc.

Nice to see such respectful interest.
Franx, I was taken by my son as a birthday treat to visit Peyto and Chezy at a wolf sanctuary in North Beds. These wolves are the fittest most well looked after, most contented ones I have ever seen.
They have been reared by their handlers from 12 days old before their eyes were open.
They consider humans to be fellow pack members.
We had to adhere to a pretty long list of "rules" ....smile without showing teeth, don't stare, never touch them on their backs or the top of their heads.
The sanctuary isn't open to the public but they do arranged Wolf walks , hence the heavy chains and two handlers per each wolf at all times. If you want details, email me and I'll send you a link to their website.
Love to see what they'd do to a poodle !! lol
And yes they (not these two but some distant cousins) probably have killed humans at some time or other but no doubt they were cornered or driven to it somehow.

More like nature's version Evo
They look scrawny but are efficient, intelligent killing machines.
The German Shepherd is a fluffy, toy dog in next to these.
Andy, the Wolf evolved seperately from the dog and is quite different.

For those of you who live in the Southeast.
'Wildwood' nr Canterbury have a wolf enclosure, about 15 acres, with a breeding program.
Loads of info on wolves.
I don't know if it's still happening, but there was talk of
re-introducing them into Scotland, and other UK mountain regions.

I wiill post up some pictures of my doggy later - shes bred to look like a timber wolf (can someone please tell me how to post pictures?) Howls like one as well occasionally!
For now, read about the breed and see some pictures of other doggieswww.utonagan.co.uk
Bravo, the utonagan is a cross between timber wolf (a few years back, alaskan malamute, husky, and German Shepherd. Absolutely beautiful dog with a beautiful temperament, and more intelligent than Stephen Hawkings!!!

Fantastic! I was looking at the pure timber wolf/husky cross years ago and the straight cross between the two are illegal I believe. Obviously must be rated totally different with the other breeds integrated in but still looks a fantastic animal. Are they difficult to buy and then look after?

that looks like a fantastic experience. I would be very grateful if you could email me the link.
I've seen wolves in zoos a few times and they just dont look happy. Nice to see these ones looking so well cared for.

Not at all! Not many breeders around (we went to north wales to get Cherokee (from Lynn Sharkey - the founder of breeds club, and hence one of the best breeders). I think we paid £600 which seemed a lot at the time, but we realised it was money well spent within a couple of hours!
The only problems (if you see them as problems) are that they like jumping up to greet people (and when they get slightly larger than a GSD, they can look scary doing this), and they also are no good at being a guard dog (i.e. they will let anyone come up to them).
They can be fed on normal dog food, although Lynn advised using the BARF diet, which we have stuck to (bones and raw food) She generally has 2-3 uncooke large chicken legs a day, and maybe a bag of mince (although we cook this). The diet does make the dog GROW though (at 7 months, she is larger than my mum and dads pointer).
I would not have another type of dog now after the joys of having this breed, everytime we walk her people stop us, and pay her so much attention, we have been asked if people could take photos of her before (and been offered money by people wanting a photo).
When we got her, her markings were not that clear, within a few months, she is practically a wolf!!!
They have a few characteristics that match the wolves (i.e. howling, prowling like a wolf, the teeth are the same as a wolves!)
She is beautiful!
Yve, thanks for the info on posting pictures, will put some up later tonight!

Well I reckon thats the closest I can get to the wolf husky cross and will find out more about them. I didn't even know this breed existed Scoobynet again proves to be a wealth of information
As for posting pics, do a link the same as you have for your above link and replace the 'url' bits with 'img' making sure the link goes directly to the picture and not a page with the picture in it.

They are currently tyring to get the breed Kennel club registered (as a pedigree) - as the breed has followed a standard for 15 years, I think once they are registered there will be a lot more breeders pop up (we were not fussed about having a pedigree dog)
Lynn is big time into wolves - she is looking at getting an enclosure built so she can keep them as well!
