does anyone have any views / experiences on this.
We have 2, 6 year old pedigree Burmese & a 6 month old pedigree Burmese that we would like to insure.
Tried PetPlan but they seem very expensive (quoting me over £290 per year for all 3 on the very basic level of cover)
While I appreciate vets bills can be big these days it seems a little expensive.
They also ask for a £65 excess which seems a little steep.
Any thoughts please ?

Direct Line does pet insurance, as does More Than.
I use PetPlan myself, but then my cats are common all-garden moggies, not pure breds.
Might be worth setting up a savings account for yours in case anything happens...

Paid £220 for insurance to include Vet cover on my kids pony (flame suit on) (£120 excess) through South Essex insurance broker, and I had to make a claim as she went lame (Xrays and all), The policy expired whilst the claim was in progress and the only company who would insure the pony with this ongoing is charging £500 this year plus £250 excess, and I will have to pay 1/3rd of any claim out of my own pocket. It will change next year, but they've got me by the short and curlies at the moment.

More Than !!!!
Excellent !!!!
Ours has paid itself over and over and over and......
1 dog has skin probs they have paid hundreds
the other had Meningitus ! 1 weekend in the vets, tests, spinal tap overnight stays = £1k plus and they are still covering the steroids as we speak
Always a nice thank you for chosing "More Than" letter and prompt payment. Our vet recommended them and they also pay the vet direct so you dont sit out of pocket waiting or reimbursement.

We usa more than for our two cats. The youngest one which is just over a year old is around £5 per month, the oldest one (17 next Birthday although he doesn't look it) costs around £15 per month.
Worth every penny though. Last year the eldest cat was run over by a car, his shoulder blade was completely smashed along with internal injuries. Anyway the offshot was that the vets bills came to over £1500 and all we paid was the first £65, he is now as fit as a fiddle so to speak.
It seems a lot of money every month, but I learnt the lesson a couple of years ago when our other cat who was about 12 at the time had to be put down. It cost us over £600 to have him put to sleep, and we had no cat to show for it
Drifting off topic slightly though, have you noticed how a Vet can diagnose an illness pretty quickly and accurately even though their patients can't talk, and yet doctors still can't diagnose properly even though their patients can tell them exactly where it hurts?

We use pet plan for our Boxer, who sadly last year got an ulcer behind the eye and it popped, she had to go to the vetnary hospital at Newmarket, and thankfully they saved her eyesight and pet plan payed the bill.

I do have experience of this as a friend has pet insurance for her loveable hound, was just a good idea in case anything happened, plus she was, and has now, bred from said hound and as such insurance would have covered anything if it had happened which it did not.
It's like all insurance, it's a pain to pay for until you need it, then it's just so handy you have it.

Personally I'd find it quite frightening being driven around by either one of my dogs though, therefore putting them on my insurance wouldn't be an option for me.
