Now you would think the BBC might make an effort as its a bank hol and at least put summat decent on to watch. What do we get. From 6.00pm til 9.30pm we get athletics. I expect as usual the stands will be empty as well.
Could be worse though. Couldve been cricket. Now that IS boring.

I've just spent 2 weeks in the US and was appalled at how bad TV was over there, constant adverts, mainly debate shows like Springer etc or talk show like Letterman or many different versions of People's Court/Judge Judy and then the comedy stuff like Friends etc. but nothing else.
I really looked forward to watching British TV when I got back. But this weekend has been absolutely dire, there has been NOTHING worth watching. At all. Not one thing. Nowt. Nada. Zip. Zilch.
It was that bad I bought a hedge trimmer and attacked the garden.

It was good compared to the usual standard and compared to re-runs of Eastenders but it was still crap
Actually, I think the problem is I can no longer concentrate on more than 4 minutes of TV without a break.

Only the Olympic's can compete with the World Championships in term of prestige.

There are 2 sessions in the athletics, the first was 43, second was virtually full....evening session has most of finals, so is bound to be fuller.
BBC can afford little enough sport, and personally I'm chuffed they are willing to show it. Monday night is the Mens 100m final anyway....biggest event of the championships

[pedantic mode]
Coe, Ovett in the 800 + 1500 (and a 5000 for Ovett in Commonwealth Games)
although Ovett did win English Schools 400 - it wasnt televised!!
[/pedantic mode]
However, I can see why people dont like it, but if it's not your cup of tea, you can say that about any sport...from the FA Cup final to Torvill & Dean
In its defence, even my old Mum (at the ripe old age of 70) still likes to watch the track events if there is a Brit in with a chance of a medal
Have a feeling we wont get any golds this year, mind

I'm not saying that they should not show athletics on the BBC. I was merely pointing out that maybe they could have had something that was more appealing to the masses.

Yup, but I do have a touch of knowledge in the area (having trained over the years with Darren Campbell, Katharine Merry, Phil Brown, Lincoln Asquith, Derek Redmond, Jamie Baulch, Garry Cook, Phil Brown, Derek Redmond, Fenton Campbell, and one session with Denise Lewis (unfortunately not THAT kind of a session!!).
Dwain did not look in top form in the Quarters (even after the Jon Drummond farce), I have Kim Collins as the man to beat...dont get me wrong...there's nothing I'd love to see more than DC win gold, but I have a horrible feeling that this is a year when we may not get a gold...the mens 100 is our best bet, but there will be only a couple of hundredths between even the qualifiers for tonights final. Jonathan Edwards will struggle in the triple (bookies agree with me on that one), and we have an abysmal record in the 4x100, when we possibly have the strongest team. Unfortunately Kelly Holmes hasnt even decided about the 1500, but has no chance against Mutola in the 800. 200 will be interesting, but I dont think a gold is on the cards.
Oh, and I've just checked the odds, and Montgomery, Chambers, and Collins are all 11/4 on Bluesq...maybe I'm not as much a muppet as you think !!
Edited to say William Hill have Collins as outright favourite
Bet365 have Tim Montgomery as outright favourite
