FRANK NUT JAMS COP RADIO.
A nut nicked a police radio and spent two days interrupting messages in a Frank Spenser voice.
Cops were sent MAD as the prankster volunteered to attend emergencies - and repeatedly blurted out the Michael Crawford character's famous catch-phrase "OOH BETTY".
The joker was finally nabbed when officers pulled over his car. But he kept up his SPENSER routine by asking in a camp voice "CAN I HELP YOU".
The man in his early 20's, is suspected of swiping the radio as police attended an incident at a petrol station in Worthing, Sussex.
An Inspector for the police said " officers could have been injured because this idiot was blocking the airwaves".
A man has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
I can see the funny side of this, can you imagine being on the end of the radio talking to this NUT !

Arron.you wouldn't find it funny if you had an accident and was trapped in your car bleeding slowly to death and you managed to call 999 but got this fool saying that he would attend and noboby turned up.
I personally think this idiot should be severly punished for his acts as he has wasted already streached resources and threatend the safety of the public.

Badger the scenario you describe is a little far fetched, a vested interest on your part perhaps? In any case the police are usually busy doing something more important than the sort of thing you desrcibed.
I thought it was pretty funny, particularly as I worked with Sussex police for a few years. The way they used to leave their eqpt hanging around was CRIMINAL. I particularly remember asking one of them why his stinger was sat on the floor in the car park (open to the public). He didn't even know it had been left there.
As well as a slap on the wrist for Frank the idiot who let his radio go should be severely reprimanded.

The frank spencer impression- particularly if it was really bad and he wears a beret in real life.
If he'd been giving them mindless abuse, profanity etc then I have to admit I wouldn't have found it funny.

I agree with you if it got in the way of some serious POLICE WORK, but hey, I looked at the funny side of this as I'm sure the majority of people will, that is the angle it was intended for not to upset or insult you or anybody who has been a victim of this guys stupidity, I just ( in my, maybe odd sense of humour ) thought it was quite amusing.
I hope this makes the post somewhat clearer and again if it is not to your humour or you just cannot see the funny side then sobeit.
