Zovirax is pretty good.
If you're into herbal remedies then try Lysine. I take one a day if I'm run down & in the winter and it keeps them away. Helps them vanish quicker too.

I know - it is a tad pricey...
Other things that helps are avoiding Nuts (not Muppets!), caffeine and red wine.
Selinium is pretty good too as it helps boost the immune system.
I'm not a leading expert you udnerstand, just tend to get them in the winter!

Too much snogging of those girls in those leather skirts me thinks They are always trouble and always lead to regret the following day
Seriously, Zovirax (within 24 hours of first symptoms) is the daddy.

Its the direct sunlight that can trigger these annoying things. Believe it or not, coffee powder applied directily to the sore is supposed to accelerate the healing process. Trouble is...who wants to walk about with a brown blob on their face ?
Zovirax although costly is the alternative. Might be an idea to try tee tree too.

I think they refer to an oil, I thought it was spelt Tea Tree Oil but could be wrong. Don't ask me what its for as I don't know! But presumably the local herbal oil supplier would know.
Incindially they do do a version of Zovirax that can be used on the eyes but its a prescription only item

Tea Tree Oil is used as a natural alternative to antibacterial creams/shampoos etc. Its quite effective but has a strong smell. You can buy it from the supermarket.
