is your house timber constructed???
Sounds to me like you will nead a "suspended" system.new Floor ceiling and walls etc to be isolated from originals. This costs $$$
you could build your own dryline wall and fill it with loads of "Rockwool" insulation... but wont work if you turn the noise up.

Is there not summat you can inject in cavity walls..? I need to do the same - even though I live in a detached hoose.
BTW if you are gonna get a decent sub (downward firing) - you will find the bass will travel down and across through the foundations..

Accoustic plasterboard neads a special hanging system to opperate. The sub will be the problem.
Depends on the construction of the 2 houses.
Thats the problem today..... cheap building methods and everyones got huge surround sound systems!!!

the sound will travel through the floors more than it will the walls...
I've got a pretty meaty subwoofer (REL Quake) it's like one of those earthquake weapons out of "The Core" and my neighbour has said she cant hear a thing. (I asked her, rather than have her come round and complain)
How Old is the house?

i'm in the process of converting a garage in to a rehersal room and have found that the the "studio spares" web-site and catalog has a whole section on sound proofing for carpet underlay, walls: insulation, panels ...loads of stuff, and ceiling, etc....it's really worth getting their catalog....
on the other hand ..my mate (a drummer) sound proofed a room by covering the walls 6 sheets thick with plasterboard.

i thought because my house was blast proof (its over 50 years old and beside an abandoned quarry that explains the blast proofness) that it would be sound proof, after buying a quite expensive setup i found that i was quite wrong!
