AA or RAC - opinions...
#1
for one reason or another, never got around to arranging breakdown cover... (shame on me - and currently touching wood)
does anybody have any opinions on the above - good/bad/indifferent?
Thanks!

Am with the AA.
They're usually pretty good, turn up when they say they do, (unless busy), always been courteous, listened when I've told them "not to bother sending anyone to look at my car and agree with my diagnosis, just give me a flatbed truck", are quite willing to take me halfway round the country when I've broken down (I seem to have a knack of waiting until I'm at least 100 miles from home before breaking down... ) so all in all, a fairly good experience with them...

just tot hrow a spanner in the owrsk, so to speak, i'm with direct rescue (direct line).
the AA do offer loads of discounts on stuff though, so wifey is with them.
take a peek on the websites - (you only need towing off the motorway once, and its paid for itself!!)
plus, if you leave a broken down car on the side of the road near where i live, you'll end up with just a burned out body shell, after the local gippo gits have descended upon it.
would strongly advise some cover..!!!

I'm with the AA.
Only had to call them out once (not the sccob) and they were first rate.
Have heard a few bad reports about the RAC.
I'm sure RSGrant will tell you all...

AA, Got free membership cos i upgraded to a gold account with LloydsTSB, its only basic cover, ie cant fix problem take u to a garage or take u home, used them twice (not the scoob)wife's Escort, tw*t me being tight thought i could get home from work on what was in the tank, no wasn't gonna happen, stopped on M1, called them, 35 minutes turned up with £5 with in a can, did have to pay for the petrol.
2nd time about 3 weeks ago in Tradex car park wif's car wet herself and let go off all her water, thermostat propblem out came the AA, sorted in less than 20 minutes.
So mine has paid for it's self already, not that i had to pay in the 1st place

I'm with the AA; thankfully I've not needed them myself for a few years, but they've been very good when Mrs C's motorbike has broken down.
They do an SIDC discount to, I believe.

AA myself, used them a few times with previous cars fortunately never with the.... no not gonna say it, touch wood and all that.
Also they do a type of parts warranty. Its just over £40 for upto £500 cover.
You are only covered if you breakdown and are recovered by the AA, their usual service will take you to a garage anyway. The details are on their website.
I know £500 probably only buys a new *** lighter on the Scoob but you never know....
