Tempting fate for my walk to the pub later... but after all this humid, hot weather here in the UK, where are the thunderstorms?
I remember as a kid, whenever we had even an afternoon of "sticky" weather, there'd be a fine flash n rumble later on.
Anyone in the UK had a storm yet today?

Hmm. I'm in B'ham, so maybe they are en-route. I know exactly what will happen...
I'll think it's too hot for a jacket. Will look out the back window - see light clouds. Look out the front; see the same. Head out towards the pub in a light shirt.
Within 10 mins, the heavens will open and I'll be soaked.
And before you mention umbrellas - I have a habit of getting pi$$ed and leaving them in the pub!

Quelle surprise... Walked out of house - looked at clouds - seemed okay in one direction, not so good in the other... realised after 5 mins that the clouds were moving the wrong way as far as I was concerned and that the huge black one was headed towards me...
Got within a 5 minute walk of the pub, with it spitting with rain, distant rumbles... and the heavens opened. Doh! Had to run to the pub, which isn't the best in humid conditions, in a tight t-shirt, with my fitness levels.
Took an hour to dry off in the pub from the rain and sweat combined. Bah!

Torrential Downpour here now, in St Helens
I knew it would happen, spent last night cleaning the car, and a good hour or so watering the garden

I foolishly parked right next to a contruction site on Tuesday lunch for an hour, and on returning to my car found it covered in dust. Was intending to wash it, but other tasks (lawns etc) got in the way.
Don't need to now - all the dust was washed off last night during the downpour, which also soaked me.

You want to see thunderstorms? Get over to Toronto and St Louis! Boy! I love thunderstorms! totally amazing, and hardly suprising due to humidity usually being between 50 - 100 percent in the summer.
I remember the last flight back to the UK from STL, spent two hours on the runway due to BFO storm. The sky was pitchblack and it was only 5pm! amazing, lightening everywhere! amazing!

If your into thunder and lighteneing try Belieze or Singapore.
Best I have seen for sheer scale was in Dallas. If you were up the top of the Hilton Hotel by the Reunion Arena you can see for about 30 miles in all directions. Where ever you looked you could see 3 or 4 lightening strikes at any one time, awesome.

Best one I have seen was at Lake Garda in Italy. We were on holiday there, and had suffered 10 days of stifling heat and humidity, so bad that the locals were complaining.
Then on the penultimate night of the vacation, there was a 7 hour storm, with forked lightning over the lake, and mountains, with deafening claps of thunder.
Quality.
