was quite enjoying the thunderstorm over our heads last night, until a big flash, huge bang, followed by some sizzling from the Sky Plus 160

Sky Plus completely dead this morning!

Called Sky this morn, and luckily its covered under warranty, so being repaired on Friday

First time we've been hit by lightning - anyone else ever suffered any damage?

yeah, everything else was off, looks like it struck the dish on the back of the house and fed down the cables to the back of the box

Nope We had a fantastic light show. I did mention to my missus that we really ought to turn off the TV, laptop (was on mains power), PC and router but then couldn't be arsed

The microwave died earlier in the evening though, but that was from old age

Monster storm over Hertfordshire last night too - I've never seen lightning like it. You could see and hear it fizzing and cracking in the air. I've never actually seen lightning hit anything ether - until last night. I think it was a power line or something similar - very spectacular.

The telegraph pole outside our house took a direct hit last year and I nearly jumped through the roof Unfortunately it also killed our ADSL modem and we had to use dial-up till the replacement arrived, urgh. We drove up onto the moors behind the house to sit and watch the lightning but that was quite scary and we'd never have done if Hammond hadn't done that experiment in a Golf on Top Gear

I don't think we had any storms last night which was a shame as I love them.

Yeah that was a good one last night, some huge great claps of thunder and lightning that blinded me for a few seconds I'm pretty sure a couple of things were struck locally judging by the noise and sirens.

It was amazing in Pontefract last night too. My other half and I were 'at it' at the time too, which was nice

Unfortunately, rainwater began pissing through the ceiling light rose shortly after.. That kinda ruined the mood.
