Rob,
Was this recommended by someone or just something you stumbled across?

I suffer too much I reckon so anything new would be welcome.

Very interesting all this. I suffer from them too & have been taking Immigran tablets for the last 5 years - wonderful things. They almost always stop the pain within 20-30 minutes, else it's the whole day out of action.

Prescription only.

See http://www.flixotide.co.nz/product.asp?productID=23 for a description of what Imigran is.

regards,

z80 doesn't Imigran zonk you out? I only take those as a last resort, taking one of those renders me useless for about 4-5 hours!
Agree with you though about getting rid of migraine within 20-30 mins

I also found that imigran left me feeling like death - completely zonked. My GP switched me to something called Zomig instead, which seems to be more effective and doesn't leave me completely spaced for the rest of the day. Imigran is Sumatriptan Succinate, Zomig is a much smaller quantity of Zolmitriptan Succinate so they're obviously chemically related, but for me at least Zomig doesn't have the side-effects.

Wink

Aspirin is great, except for people like me who are allergic to it, would be an early grave......

As soon as I get the early warning signs - one eye watering, funny taste in mouth, slight pounding to one side, stiff neck, I take a couple of Syndol with the anti-histamine. If I catch it early enough, the migraine ceases to increase. If not then I tend to suffer as none of the migraine remedies seem to work. :-/
Tramal works, but knocks me out for a couple of hours.

Dentist friends of mine is doing a lot of work in the adjustment of the jaw bone to relieve headaches/migraines.

Apparantly if you lower jaw doesn't fit your upper jaw correctly, this can cause headaches etc.

Seems to be getting very good results.

Cheers

I use Migraleve, but I can usually tell when they are about to hit, before they get to the "blind, can't move, leave me alone in silence in a darkened room" stage.

When it hits this stage I find proper peppermint sweets, with real peppermint in ease it down quite well, if I've forgotten to bring the migraleve with me.
