Question

Having had laser surgery recently I find that I am left with a large quantity of daily disposable contact lenses. Question is what do I do with them, they cost approx £200.

I am allowed to sell/donate () them or do I have to give them to an optician to dispose of because they are perscription lenses??

Or should I keep them for the future - just in case....

Anybody got any sensible suggestions??

Cheers

Rach

The chances of finding someone with the same prescription in both eyes are probably thousands to one if not millions. I should be gratefull for your regained site and bin them.

Well, they are Focus Dailies -5.50, CT0.085 and DIA 13.8. 18 boxes of 30 lenses. Expiry is 10/2004

But as the guys said before the chances of someone having that exact persription is pretty remote.

The surgery went really well. Had it done 4 months ago now and it took me that long before just doing the research etc but it was well worth it. My vision now is better now than when it was corrected with lenses, and I can now read the second line from the bottom on the chart!! Have my last check up in 2 months when I am officially discharged and so far no correction required at all.

Unhappy

Bah, too weak for me.

Take them back to your optician to see if you could get some money back or a suggestion on where to donate them.
There is somewhere that asks for old glasses and such for third world countries, maybe they will take them? Don't ask me who, my brain is having an "I refuse to remember anything useful" day today.

Pah! Severe?? Don't think so! If they had been -10.5, I'd have been interested!!

The good thing about being this short-sighted is that I don't pay for eye tests!

This is where I get jealous, I am just under being able to get free eyesight tests.

Though over here in Australia, if I remember correctly, anyone over -5 gets everything half price.
Contact lenses are cheaper over here too.

Everything? Including lenses/glasses etc?? No fair! It costs me £103 for three months worth of daily disposable lenses, and that's online. From the opticians it would be over £130!!

Just to make you feel even worse - $175 is what you will pay for 90 days worth of Focus Dailies - sickening isn't it.

Thumbs up

Out of interest, if anyone here regularly buys dailies (I do) how about we all set up some referrals at www.visiondirect.com? I used these last time, and they're about a fiver cheaper than anywhere else I can find on the 'net, even including postage. However, they do a 5% discount bonus the first time somebody you recommend buys something from them. With a careful bit of planning, we could all save a bit of cash here.

If anyone's interested, drop me a line on my profile address.

I wonder if it would be worth purchasing from somewhere like Australia over the net.

'Chelle, buying from Oz won't be any cheaper - I've searched all the online places around the world and they're not much different. The one I mentioned above is about the best I can find.

WRX Wannabe - what's the best price you could do for Focus Toric dailies, -0.50 -0.75 x 090 BC 8.6 Dia 14.2 (both my eyes are exactly the same, so that's the L & R prescription)? Email me if you don't want to post...

You should try getting daily disposables from Costco. Thats where I got mine and theyre waaaaayyyy cheaper than £100 - nearer to £60 IIRC.
