Following on from all the martial arts threads, after seeing a few UFC videos I was wondering if this is the real deal, i.e - are these the hardest people on the planet, basically trying to kick the **** out of each other ?

I swear if I can get half their conditioning, I'd be strong as hell. Too bad they changed the system though. It was better in the first few tourney where there was no weight class or rounds. Just pure skills.

If you feel inclined could you tell me a little bit more about it please Katana ? Such as who's the current "daddy", who's thought to be the greatest of all time, etc.

I dont know who the current one is as I stopped following it recently. But lets just say that the UFC/Vale Tudo has destroyed all prior myth of martial arts. This is why I study various arts as I realised in the early 90s that TKD isnt good enough on its own. You have to be well rounded.

It used to be a lot better as less rules i.e. no gloves and you could pretty much get away with anything but hits to the *****, biting and eye gouging. Last year saw the first visit to the UK - I was gonna go but tickets were £50 minimum to sit at the back. The UK lads did well for there first tourney - one dude knocked the other out in abouot 5 secs with a kick to the chin. Fastest ever UFC KO.
