Hi
I wondered if there was a recognised gesture to indicate "watch your speed, there's a speed trap/money generating scheme/random string of expleteives up ahead"
OK you can flash your headlights but that doesn't convey a message does it, you're more likely to attract road rage, I think a gesture is needed too. I went past a trap the other day, further down the road a guy on a mille was making progress so I flashed my lights, he looked over then I just waved and looked confused
Anyone got any thoughts? Obviously this thread is aimed at slowing folk down and not preventing the police and goverment from lining their pockets....not that they'd do such a thing

I thought flashing and giving the "thumbs down" was the general "accepted" "greeting"...if that makes sense
It is amongst us truckers anyway...
Bikers tend to give a "calm down" gesture, with one hand obviously

The thumbs down thing sounds workable What's the calm down (dear!) fingmy, would it be like waving your hand up and down with your palm facing downwards? It would be a stroke of luck if it is cos that's what I did

I use the 'calm down' signal. Tried to warn a few drivers of a mobile ahem... "traffic safety unit" a day or two ago. Nobody even acknowledged the signal, who knows if they slowed down in time? The mobile tax unit was parked just over the brow of a hill about 50m after the limit changes from 60mph to 30mph.

Lived in South Africa some while back when 80 kph was max and fines were very heavy for speeding. Guy got 6 months stretch for 100 mph on empty motorway. Flashing lights was an offence so "sign" was turning on windscreen wipers (it didn't often rain BTW). D
