is it a good course??
my neighbours a plumber and i do some odd work with him.
mostly sweeping up and making tea, but his van is almost always still outside his house at 9.00am and back well before 3pm
he has a big house, merc, van, expensive wife, 2 kids, and a fridge full of booze.
sounds like a great trade to me.
is the course material high quality??

I've been looking for a plumbing course for DIYers around Edinburgh and I've basically come to the conclusion that there aren't any! Not even night classes! And I think I've sussed out why....
It's a pretty sweet arrangement - the trade has it all sewn up! The only courses around are day release courses at the colleges and one of the entry criteria is that you MUST be an apprentice to a working plumber ALREADY!
This just means that the number of plumbers will always remain small, they will always remain rich and the only way for the rest of us to learn plumbing is to just "have-a-go" and end up doing cowboy jobs and occasional appearances on Rogue Traders! Do the words 'gravy' and 'train' spring to anyone elses mind? Hmmm....
Ironic really, when you think about it. Any decent plumber could make a fortune for a couple hours extra a week teaching people like us at some community college. £10 a lesson, 40 heads a class, £400 a night anyone? Come to think of it, I might just set one up on my own....
