I got Gatso'd back in December last year doing 77mph in a 50 zone (daydreaming). It's my first offence in 12 years of driving and the case is being read out in court on Friday (4th July). Has anybody got any idea as to what I'll get (or even take a guess). I have absolutely no idea what to expect.

boomer,
Good point, the offence was on the 9/12/02. I was informed about the offence on the 20/12/02 (with the two weeks). The case is now going to court on the 4/7/03, nearly seven months later. I pleaded guilty straight away as I have never tried to squirm out of anything in my life. As far as I was concerned, it was a fair cop.
What is the official ruling regarding the 6mths deadline, does it even exist?
If the courts know about this, then why are even proceeding with the case?
Any input appreciated,
Craig.
PS. The ironic thing is, I didn't get flashed in my 300bhp Type-R, oh no.... it was my £400 Cavalier!!!!

all info taken from http://www.speed-trap.co.uk/FAQ/FAQ.htm
What is the time limit, within which you can be prosecuted?.
The police have to serve a summons on the defendant within 6 months of the date on which the prosecutor (normally the CPS) certify that they have collated enough evidence to bring a charge. This does not mean that the police have 6 months from the date of the offence to charge the accused. My advice to anyone who has received a summons more than 6 months after the alleged offence is to request a copy of the signed and dated certificate of prosecution from the Police/CPS. For a normal common or garden speeding offence with no complications I can think of absolutely no reason why the prosecution should not issue a summons within 6 months of the offence. Notwithstanding the above, the Prosecution must bring proceedings within 3 years of the alleged offence. The NIP 14 day rule still applies for Gatso and other devices, where you are not stopped and warned of proscecution at the time of the offence.

I thought that if you couldn't 'prove' somebody else was driving, the registered keeper was liable to be prosecuted?
Surely you can't just say 'Oh sorry guv, defo wasn't me, dunno who it was'
