It looks like I will be selling my current house before I can complete on the new one
Hence no where to live in the interim period !
IS there anyway I can rent a place to live for a month or two ?
I dont want a 6 month contract but can I do anything ?

You should be able to rent, so long as you are up front about it.
If you can, house sharing is best as most people who rent a room are only on 2 weeks notice(Residential Multiple Occupancy Lease) rather than the more restrictive AST.

how come you didn't arrange completion on both at the same time?
Parents are prob the cheapest (albeit likely to drive you insane) bet though. If you do get somewhere temporary, make sure your stuff is still properly insured at the new address
