Anything ranging from £10 1/2 hour to £30 hour.
It depends. Make sure that you know what you want to learn. Don't try to learn just songs. Do your scales, pentatonic, melodic, mixalodian, etc. Learn how they are made up. What notes are common, how to interlink them. Learn them backwards. These are the building blocks and the better you know all of these the more technical you can get in the future.
Learn some songs, just to break it all up a bit.
Good luck.
If you need any help or guidence then feel free to mail me. I have been playing since I was 15 (33 now) and the first couple of years I didn't bother with scales. Once i was forced to I came on in leaps and bounds.
Jason.

mull of kintire, we are sailing,
then progress to: let it be, house of the rising sun.
then end up with yngwie j malmsteen's rising force......
hahahah
get some beginners books, from your local music shop, i recently gave mine away to a buddy just learning up (god i sound like a fooking yank) but he finds them invaluable, plus it will get you cracking out a few songs in no time at all.
they are about £5 - £10 a go, but well worth it.

Daren.........this site is the daddy
Rich....Don't be daunted. it's easy once you get into it. Click the scale you want from the left hand box and there you go. I'll try and find some simpler to read scales and post them in a minute.
