Using phone in car
#1
Wife just got home and told me she's been done for using a phone in car. Specific law in Jersey with fines up to £1,000. Generally I agree with the law and we have hands free sets in our cars but she was in a garage loan car.
However, she was driving along when phone rang. She indicated and pulled off the road. As she was pulling in she spoke in to phone just to say "Hold on for one minute". Police came up to her in layby and made her get out of car and gave her producer for using phone in moving car. Told her she should not have picked up phone until she was completely staionary. What really p!sses me off is that every day I see people driving around in traffic having long conversation whilst driving and she gets done for a 2 second talk before doing the right thing and parking up.
The copper that wrote up the ticket appears to have the usual level of police education, almost every other word was spelt wrong. If it goes to court I wonder if we can use the numerous errors in his report in our favour.
He even told her she was 4 times more dangerous than a drunk driver for using the phone! Yeah for 2 seconds then pulling in. What a tw@t. Can't think why the public have no respect for the police any more

TBH, we've all done it, but I can't blame the police for stopping her. After all, if it was just two seconds while she pulled in, why didn't she just wait anyway?
