This month I used my authorised overdraft facility for the first time in ages, (for all of a few days), and I've just had a call from my bank offering me an account "upgrade".
Apparently, (note my slightly sceptical tone), because I run a good account, I have qualified for a new sooper-dooper account with a larger overdraft facility, a will writing service and Green Flag cover. Lucky me. And all it would cost me, for these features I wouldn't use, is £7.50 a month .
The sales drone actually seemed surprised when I said no thanks.
A portion of the overdraft facility, (£250 I think he said), is interest free, but since I don't use it, whoopee doo. Either way, why on Earth would I agree to pay £7.50 a month for this and the other "benefits"?!

Pretty much my thoughts on the matter.
I'm getting increasingly annoyed with companies calling me to tell me they can "upgrade" me to new and fantastic offers like this. BT are another culprit, I know several people who've had calls from BT to say that if they change tariff it will save them money, only to find their bills increase.
Call me cynical but why would a company spend money to let you know you could pay them less?!

I pay £6 per month for my account, and get
Free home insurance
10k Overdraft
Lots of tea when I go to the bank
Cashier's knowing my name, which is a bonus!
Direct line to the branch
Walk in appointments
Internet Banking
24hour phone banking
Free cd's
Free travel insurance.
£6 well spent IMHO

Sounds like Barclays Addition Account.
I've got one and pay £7.50 a month for nothing as I don't use any of the extra's and can't even remember what they are!
Just too lazy to change it to a normal account

Grrrrrrrr BT, grrrrrrrrrrrr. My Dad has had them trying to persuade him to change his Tarrif, he keeps saying no, they keep ignoring him. He did consider changing telecoms providers, but I said nooooooooo. Have had first hand experience of some other telecoms companies, and they are not all they are cracked up to be.
