Angry

My boss has just started lumbering with with a world of hurt, including dropping me in the deep end with clients, expecting me to second guess his motives, being generally huffy and puffy with my "approach" to work and generally causing a bad atmos!!!

what do i do?

a) punch him in the gob (nearly happened last night)
b) wait till he gets outside and punch him in the gob
c) delete everything off every server in sight
d) ride it out and leave on my own terms

this is a genuine situation and not very funny!!!
your suggestions will be most appreciated

Well, if your a valuable part of the company I would ride it out and leave during an important piece of work that you know only you can complete. Make it clear that your boss is the source of your discontent. And walk out with your head held high knowing that your bosses superiors will blame him for the companies loss. I would stay professional.

No excuses but maybe something is happening to your boss that he hasn't reveal. I've been victim to this in the past and riding it out seems to work.

This is of course assuming you can afford to just up and leave YOU HAVE THE POWER!

Daren,

Don't do anything harsh mate. It will reflect on you in the future. best ride it out. He is probably having a bad day and taking it out on all around him. Keep your head down and see what happens.

Jason.

PS: Are we all still on for some beers soon....

Edited because I can't spell for toffee's...

Write a contemparaneous report on each & every incident.

If it gets too much & is obvious an attack on you, ask to speak to him or your HR person about it & failing that, his boss.

As a last resort, tap the legal people for an opinion.

Don't do anything rash like walking out, like I did but I had hard evidence of wrong-doing.

ok nice one guys,
he is being a bit pally pally this morning which worries me...

he is the director of the company and is really up against it.

but he put himself in that position, and gets paid hansomely for it!!

i've had nothing but hollow promises since i've been here and seen the staff cut from 34 people to 7 in just 2 years!!!

i'm gonna drag my heels on this one and try and get something going on my own.

...dont bite the hand that feeds you, i guess is the call of the day.

thanks for your thoughts

BS, yep, the beers are on, i'll liase with B2Z on a date (mail you later) - and anyone else who fancies a few jars!!!

keep plugging away

Agree with Puff and the Badger.

Don't do anything rash, count to ten (if you can being a BM driver)

Good luck old chap.

Didn't you have a "situation" a few months back IIRC? Whereby they decided they needed to keep you otherwise they'd have no company?

Prehaps he's just remembered that & realised what a plonker he's been - boss's do realise sometimes

No company manager or whatever should ever admit this to an employee even if it is the case. Leaves them open to blackmail at pay review times and all sorts of potential problems.

No disrespect to BB mean't in any way - just not the way for the company to do it.

paul and puff,

yeah, they went through a sacking frenzy and then realised they sacked the only person who could recognise a webserver at 50 paces!!

i have been grafting hard this morning, to keep my mind busy and also complicate the systems slightly!!!
I am now "partially" documenting the systems!!! hehehehe

waste a couple of hours drawing boxes and adding a few arrows here and there.
well they asked for graphical representation, they are gonna get a rolf harris special!!! hehehe

i'm quite enjoying my day now, thanks!

document every incident and get as much in writing as possible without giving it away that you are building a case. this will help if you ever want to bring any type of dismissal/discrimination claim.

don't purposely "booby-trap" systems or wipe data - he could get the police in. partially/non documenting should be fine - that's his lookout for due diligence.

otherwise i'll second the advice here and keep calm. if it eventually gets too much leave. my brother had the same issues a while back and he tried to stick it out and it really got him down. eventually he left and got a new job and the relief for him was huge. these things can spiral.

good luck
