Came over the brow of a hill at 80mph on speedo on dual carriageway and saw a detector van parked in a layby. Slammed on (nothing behind me) and got down to below 70 to pass. NOTHING REGISTERED on snooper (s6 neo) so thought they wern't detecting at time. Just got NIP for 82 in a 70. P*ssed off or what!! £500 wasted.

Ps how long do speeding points stay on license, 3 or 4 years?

The trouble is that those mobile laser traps only take about
25th of a second to get a reading.
By the time you saw the van, it was too late
The snooper probably didnt have time to react either

I have a cheaper S5-R, so keeping my fingers crossed.

Would get your speedo checked if it was reading 80 and you were done for 82.

Most people get away with indicated 80 in a 70 because of speedo over-read and most forces let you away with 10% plus 2 or 3 mph AFAIK.

Question

Aren't diffusers the things that block laser cameras from getting a reading?
If so, someone's just been prosecuted for using one - not a good idea

swansea scooby doo - where was this? M4?

To be honest, if you were relying on the Snooper, you were kidding yourself. You could still have been caught by a Vascar unit and nothing on the planet can detect those.

stay on there for:

3 years they count towards the dreaded 12.
after 4 years you can send it off and have them removed
5 years is how long the insurance companies request.

Since when has the M4 become a dual carriageway

"Came over the brow of a hill at 80mph on speedo on dual carriageway"

Sorry Monday morning boredom, factiousness kicks in mind you it does turn in to a DC because of that stupid bus lane near heathrow.

Thanks all, Mike, it was on the A48 from Pont Abraham to Carmarthen. Was on the way to take car into DRJ for service. Speedo not 100% accurate as have 17" wheels. Was at the tail end of a stream of traffic all going same speed and would love to know if anyone else was done or if it is a case of get the flash cars!

these detectors are total pants. The best detector is your eyes, use them. If you are familiar with the local roads then you'll know where the fixed sites are and where plod do the mobile traps.

If you are on unfamiliar roads you shouldn't be speeding excessively in the first place. Unless you are real **** driving like a ****** most of the time you might get a tug for 15 over the limit but if you are polite chances are you'll get off with a caution

I like and do speed but I like I say use your eyes. Relying on a detector is feckin stupid. Might as well save your cash and pay the fine IF you get done

Carpet cleaner, good points but is 82 in a 70, IN A STREAM OF TRAFFIC all going same speed really "excessive speeding"? Also as the plod were hiding over the brow of a hill and as my x ray vision was not too good that day to see through the hill, using my eyes was of no consequence.
It's not the fine it's the points!!!!
Cheers

Swansea mate that's harsh

did you all get done or just you?

Your situation is one of the exceptions I guess. Shame plod do this because it just alienates people towards them. Bet before this you'd have had a higher opinion of the rozzers but now I bet it's low

Would love to know if all were done but I suspect that they were selective in thir choice of who to prosecute :-(

Before admitting anything to the fuzz, ask for the calibration sheet for that particular gun that got you - say you weren't doing the speed the camera claims, by law they have to you show you this if asked for. It was in a van right, so it was a mobile camera. These have to be calibrated every so often (forgot how often), failure on their part to produce a calibration sheet or a valid calibration sheet will get you off as if you then turn round and say you'll take it to court then they won't protest it as the gun was poorly/incorrectly calibrated.

laser detector isn't going to work ... you need a diffuser.

actually, you should have just turned left nailed it and run the ******* over and said they distracted you with their fcukin big noses and dribbling mouths.

*****.
