Hi! Urgently need someone who can remember their basic trig (:rolleyes at me for being cr@p) to work out length A. Then I can add it to 169 to find out if our fridge freezer will fit! Not very exciting I know! Sorry!

A being the long bit & as long as join of b & c is at 90 degrees/rightangle

I'm guessing that is sort of what you might be after seeing as its a house.

I know it's a bit late now, but the easiest way to work it out is the "Similar Triangles" rule.
So:
(A/33)=(50/85)
A = (50/85)*33
A = 19.41

Was how I was taught with story of maths teacher at Indian school going home after finishing his maths class. A young lad saw it was raining and called to his teacher Oh, sah, coat. How sad is that but I still remember it, ahem, many years later......
