You know the ones - for pushing the insulated cable down between the two contacts, for want of a better description. Where can I pick up a cheap one? Only need to do a few sockets. Cheers

its called a kroning tool (SP?) you can get them for pennies (plastic crap ones) or many pounds!!

i think most electrician type shops sell them.

Make sure you buy a data one, rather that one for voice.

The data one can punch deeper.

Sometimes called "punch-down" tools. We used to get them included in large orders from cabletel.

I use the ct28 here http://www.netshop.co.uk/tools-pd.htm

There are 2 standards, KATT and KRONE - the CT28 is compatible with both.

You can be a skinflint and make one out of a thin old screwdriver or a thin piece of sheet aluminium...
