What's the deal with the music that you get when ever a big company puts you on hold. Surely with all the technology in the world & all that, they could at least have music without crackling like mad
I just had the 4 seasons, but it sounded like a whole season of thunderstorms with all the crakling

Crush,
Yes it does! Especially if you use any music that is still in copyright, which lasts for 70 years IIRC, hence all the crappy old tunes like greensleeves etc.
My missus is a voiceover artist and does a lot of on-hold stuff for various companies that supply the music and hardware and she keeps getting herself on hold.
Now that's annoying
Roy.

Well, in our US office we just plugged a CD player into the phone system and put on some Texas CD, I think! I was going to replace the CD with the Sex Pistols

Boring reply coming up.
Most telephone systems have an in built Music on Hold (MOH) that ranges from ping.......ping.....ping to some god awful tune made up of pings!
You can plug in a CD player and play CD's too.
There is a type that has already had its broadcast license included in the cost.
If you play a commercial recording, such as a CD from the shop, to callers on hold, you are obliged by law to obtain a license from Phonographic Performance Ltd (PPL). The cost of such a license depends on the number of phone lines you have.
