how do i know what size mountain bike frame to buy?
i want to get a bike for my 7 yr old and one for me
i am 6ft4 with 36 inside leg levi's
my 7 yr old boy is normal :-)
i only want off the shelf medium price bikes no custom made specials!!
any help appreciated

Depends on all sorts of things. For example, if you're doing fast downhilling or technical stuff, you'll want a smaller frame for agility and comfort. It also depends on the manufacturer of the frame (e.g., a Kona 17" may not be precisely the same as a GT/Marin/Cannondale 17").
Best thing to do is find a good bike shop (a local one - for god's sake don't go to Halfords ) and ask them. They'll be willing to help and will measure you & your son, and if you're buying two bikes will probably do a deal too.
