My wife has just recieved a parking ticket from a private company, in a pay and display car park. The ticket states that she was there 10 minutes without a ticket, she thinks it was less than that as she only went to get change (car park ony recently changed to pay & display, she was unaware when she went in). When she went to find the car park attendant, nowhere to be seen. On the ticket it tells you where to send payment but does not say what happens if you do not pay within 28 days.

Are there any regulations as to what information must be put on these tickets, ie. penalties if you do not pay within the specified period or how to appeal. Also can this company obtain details from the DVLA.

All constructive help appreciated.

I ignore them.....

If they really want the money then they can take me to court for it.

I always ignore them unless issued by a council/traffic warden or similar. They will send a few threatening letters, respond by stating in writing that you were not in the area at the time so unless they have photographic evidence to prove it you won't be paying.

edited cos I keep forgetting to put in my plus status!

I thought private car parks can't enforce tickets? Thats why most private car parks have clamps so you have no choice but to pay up. I would go with the general concesus and not pay.
