I'm tight and don't want to shell out over a grand a month in rent to live in London, and I only plan on living here for about 3 years.

So, I wondered if anyone knows the score with getting a council property.

I assume it's done on a points scoring system - income, kids, immigrant, etc.......

yes it's points system. put your name down for a property with the local council asap as points accumulate over time.

but tbh u probably wont get any offers within 3 years for a single bloke who already has a place to live.

U get more points if :
-u r homeless or u r facing the prospect of this
-immigrant because the above applies
-female and have a baby
-in unsuitable accommodation at present ie overcrowding etc
-low income ie on benefits

I know of girls who have had a baby SPECIFICALLY to get a property. How bad is that?

When you cant afford to go anywhere then it could be justified. Besides, I wish I could do something like that to get a roof over my head. Its pissing me off.

Extremely puzzled by that one. Bringing another life into this world is one of the biggest steps a person can make (imho), to do so to get somewhere to live for nothing is not a good reason.

A baby should be planned for reasons of wanting a family, to give love to a child, to enrich a relationship....not for a fvcking house .
